Polish bass-baritone Tomasz Konieczny began his career studying acting at the Film Academy in Łódź before transitioning to vocal studies at the Fryderyk Chopin Academy in Warsaw and the Hochschule für Musik in Dresden. La Scala, the Vienna and Bavarian State Operas, the Opéra Bastille, the Zurich Opera House, Teatro Real Madrid, the Semperoper Dresden and many more, as well as at the Bayreuth and Salzburg Festivals. His repertoire includes roles such as Wotan/Wanderer in Wagner’s Der Ring des Niebelungen, Telramund in Lohengrin, the title roles in The Flying Dutchman, Wozzeck and in Cardillac by Hindemith, Mandryka in Arabella and Jochanaan in Salome by Strauss, Pizarro in Fidelio and many more. Konieczny excelled in many critically acclaimed CD and DVD recordings, amongst others, three separate recordings of the Ring Cycle, with Marek Janowski, Christian Thielemann and Sir Simon Rattle conducting respectively. He is also in high demand as a concert singer and recitalist. He works with renowned conductors such as Adam Fischer, Sir Andrew Davis, Gianandrea Noseda and Franz Welser-Möst.
