She made her role debut as Feldmarschallin in David McVicar’s production of Der Rosenkavalierat the Norwegian National Opera Oslo in the 2018/19 season, and subsequently sang the role at the Semperoper Dresden. Other recent guest appearances have taken her to the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Los Angeles Opera, Minnesota Opera, Teatro La Fenice in Venice and the Vienna State Opera, among others.
On the concert stage she sang in 2018 “Poeme de l’amour et de la mer” by Chausson with the Royal Swedish Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton by Rafael Payare, as well as “Gloria” by Poulenc with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2018 she sang Strauss’ “Four Last Songs” with the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra under the baton by Han Nah Chang and in 2017 with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra and Philippe Herreweghe. Also in 2017 she sang Giuseppe Verdi’s “Requiem” with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and Roberto Rizzi Brignoli and the “Mozart Requiem” with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France under the baton of James Gaffigan.
Further engagements have taken her to the Royal Scotish Symphony Orchestra, where she sang Strauss’ “Four Last Songs” and Beethoven’s 9th Symphony under the baton of Peter Oudjian. With Louis Langree and the Orchestre de Paris she sang Mozart’s “C Minor Mass“. Marita Sølberg worked regularly with the Oslo Philharmonic and the “Le Cercle d’Harmonie Jeremie Rhorer”. Further stages in her career have taken her to renowned orchestras such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also worked with conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Neeme Järvi and Paavo Järvi, just to name a few.
