Johannes Löhner stands for substance. At 29 years of age, the German-American has worked with institutions such as the Orchestre de Paris, London Symphony, Zurich Chamber Orchestra, Stuttgart Radio-Symphony, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, NDR Elbphilharmonie, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, DSO Berlin, Hamburg Symphony, Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, Nürnberger Symphoniker, and countless others. He has extensive experience as an Assistant Conductor, and was recently selected to work with Riccardo Muti at the Tokyo Spring Festival from 2019-2020, where he will take on three Verdi operas: Rigoletto and Macbeth.

ニュルンベルク交響楽団等、数多くのオーケストラを指揮している。アシスタント指揮者として幅広い経験があり、2019～20年は東京・春・音楽祭でリッカルド・ムーティに選ばれて、ヴェルディの２つのオペラ、《リゴレット》、《マクベス》について学んでいる。
レーゲンスブルク室内管弦楽団の常任客演指揮者を２年間務めた後、18年12月に音楽監督に就任した。同楽団は、彼のもとでいくつかの刺激的なアウトリーチ活動や、録音プロジェクト、世界ツアーを行なっており、彼の求める厳しい水準、歴史的演奏の実践経験、カリスマ性によって、好意的な評価を引き出すとともに、経済的な成長も遂げ、最近行なった野外コンサートでは1.4万人以上の観客動員を果たした。
17年より、サー・ロジャー・ノリントンに師事している。特別な地位を与えられ、彼はノリントンに付き添って世界の主要オーケストラとのプロジェクトに従事し、レパートリーを広げて、貴重な実践経験を重ねた。
また、国際サロン・プロジェクトの芸術監督およびCEOとして、これまでに一流の演奏家、協会、スポンサーと交流し、独自のライブ・イベントをつくり出している。その取り組みは、16年に設立したニュルンベルク・サロンの成功を第一歩として、さらに急速に発展している。
16年にニュルンベルク音楽大学を優秀な成績で卒業し、同大学において指揮科の非常勤教授として教鞭を執っている。ニュルンベルク国立歌劇場の協力のもと、プッチーニ、ベートーヴェン、サリバン、カンペ、グラナート等のオペラ作品を準備してきた。指揮活動を補完するための指導も行なっており、最近ではミュンヘン放送交響楽団アカデミーで即興演奏についてのマスタークラスを開いた。

Following two years as Resident Guest Conductor, Johannes Löhner was named *Music
Director* of the *Kammerorchester Regensburg* in December 2018. Under his tenure, the ensemble will take on several exciting outreach initiatives, recording projects, and international tours. Löhners exacting standards, experience with historical performance practice, and charisma have drawn positive reviews as well as financial growth – a recent open-air concert
brought more than 14,000 listeners.
Since 2017, Johannes Löhner has been mentored by *Sir Roger Norrington*. Supported by a unique Fellowship, he has accompanied him on projects with leading orchestras worldwide, explored a wide range of repertoire, and gathered significant practical experience.
As *Artistic Director & CEO* of the *International Salon Project*, Johannes Löhner interacts with leading performers, institutions, and sponsors to create unique live events. The initiative grew out of the successful Nuremberg Salon, which Löhner founded in 2016, and is rapidly expanding.
After graduating from the Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg in 2016 with distinction, Löhner joined the faculty as *Adjunct Professor* of Conducting. In cooperations with the Staatstheater Nürnberg, he has since prepared operas by Puccini, Beethoven, Sullivan, Kampe, and Glanert. He
enjoys teaching as a complement to his performance schedule, and recently led a masterclass on improvisation with the Academy of the Munich Radio Symphony Orchestra.
Born in Washington DC, Johannes Löhner taught himself to play the piano as a child. He benefited from a unique musical upbringing, and came in contact with artists like Lorin Maazel and Menahem Pressler at an early age. In high school, he began conducting and won scholarships from the American Guild of Organists and National Symphony Orchestra. Löhner completed his
Bachelor’s in Los Angeles, where he graduated magna cum laude with a dual-degree in Music Performance from Chapman University’s Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music, receiving awards from the school for Instrumental Conducting and Piano Performance. He enjoyed an individualized education, working with six different teachers on a weekly basis and conducting the Chapman Chamber Orchestra, Opera, and New Music Ensemble. Löhner studied under Daniel Alfred Wachs, student of Otto-Werner Mueller, and took weekly lessons in solo piano from Grace Fong, protegé of Sergei Babayan. Dr. Louise Thomas supervised his dual-degree in Keyboard Collaborative Arts, and David Alt, student of the late French baritone Gérard Souzay, oversaw Löhners training as a lyric tenor. From 2014-2016, Löhner completed a Master’s degree in Orchestral Conducting with Guido Johannes Rumstadt at the Hochschule für Musik in Nuremberg, Germany. Throughout his early career, Johannes Löhner appeared in Masterclasses around the world, working with pedagogues like Mark Gibson, Ulrich Windfuhr, Frank Strobel, Simone Young, and Riccardo Muti.
