ダニエル・ガイスは、彼の世代を代表する最も多才な音楽家の一人である。エッセンに生まれ、ヤーノシュ・シュタルケルとマリア・クリーゲルにチェロを、デイヴィッド・エフロンとミヒャエル・ルイクに指揮を、メナヘム・プレスラー、アルバン・ベルク弦楽四重奏団、ジョージ・クラム、フィリップ・グラスに室内楽を学んだ。

Daniel Geiß is one of the most versatile musicians of his generation. Born in Essen, he studied cello with Janos Starker and Maria Kliegel, conducting with David Effron and Michael Luig, chamber music with Menahem Pressler, the Alban Berg Quartet, George Crumb and Philipp Glass.

モーゼル音楽祭、サバンナ音楽祭、プラハ音楽祭、ブリストル・プロムス、ポルト音楽祭といった様々な室内楽音楽祭に定期的に招かれており、ダニエル・ホープ、セバスティアン・クナウアー、ジャック・アモン、デンマーク弦楽四重奏団、ナイジェル・ケネディ等と共演している。また、キリル・ペトレンコ、クリスティアン・ティーレマン、クルト・マズア、マレク・ヤノフスキ等の指揮者とも仕事をともにしている。
指揮者としてベルリンのフィルハーモニーに登場し、ブエノスアイレスのテアトロ・コロンではバロック・アンサンブル「ラルテ・デル・モンド」を、16年にはシュレースヴィヒ＝ホルシュタイン音楽祭でチューリヒ室内管を指揮している。ドイツのマインツ音楽大学とイタリアのブレシア・アカデミーでチェロを、グラーツ音楽大学で指揮を教え、グラーツ音楽大学管弦楽団、ユーフォニー交響楽団、クラングラボールの芸術監督を務める。バイロイト祝祭管弦楽団メンバー。

the Mosel Music Festival, the Savannah Music Festival, the Prague Music Festival, the Bristol Proms, the Porto Music Festival and plays together with musicians such as Daniel Hope, Sebastian Knauer and Jaques Ammon , Danish String Quartet and Nigel Kennedy. He also worked with conductors such as Kirill Petrenko, Christian Thielemann, Kurt Masur and Marek Janowski.
As a conductor, he made his debut in the Berlin Philharmonic in 2013 and the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires with the baroque ensemble L'arte del mondo. In 2016 he conducted, among other projects, The Zurich Chamber Orchestra at the Schleswig-Holstein Musikfestival.
Daniel Geiß teaches Violoncello at the University of Music in Mainz, Germany, the Brescia academy in Italy and conducting at the University of Graz.
He is artistic director of the Orchestra at Kunstuniversität Graz the EUphony Symphony Orchestra and Klanglabor.
He is a member of the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra.
