Tokyo-HARUSAI Puccini Series vol.7 “Manon Lescaut” Announcement of Casts
We are pleased to announce the cast for Tokyo-HARUSAI Puccini Series vol.7 “Manon Lescaut” (Concert Style).
The Puccini Series, which presents one of Puccini’s masterpieces each year, welcomes Iwona Sobotka in the title role. She received high acclaim at last year’s Italian Opera Academy in Tokyo performance of “Simon Boccanegra” and has since continued her collaborations with Maestro Muti.
Riccardo Massi, who has appeared at the Teatro Giuseppe Verdi, Teatro alla Scala, and other leading opera houses, will sing the role of Des Grieux, hopelessly in love with Manon. Lucio Gallo, whose career includes performances at the Vienna State Opera, La Scala, and the Metropolitan Opera, will appear as Manon’s brother.
Under the direction of the distinguished maestro Pier Giorgio Morandi, renowned for his expertise in Italian opera, and together with the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, one of Japan’s leading orchestras, and the New National Theatre Chorus, we present a Manon Lescaut of the very highest caliber.
