Ohad Ben-Ari(Piano)

Israeli-born Ohad Ben-Ari’s career has begun with performances as a soloist with the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra when he was merely 12 years of age. The following year, Ohad was officially enrolled as a student at the Tel-Aviv University, where he studied piano and composition. As a pianist, Ohad has won numerous top prizes at international competitions, among them the ARD and the Arthur Rubinstein Competitions.

As a result, he received many invitations to appear in recitals, as a soloist with orchestras and as a chamber musician all around the world.
Many of Ben-Ari’s compositions and transcriptions are performed world-wide. His latest epic Requiem for a choir, an organ and a large chamber ensemble premiered last season in Hamburg. His first orchestral work, Tips, has seen its debut in 2013 with the Hamburg Symphony. In 2014, Concerto for Marimba was premiered in Tokyo by the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra.
Ohad Ben-Ari has maintained a close relation with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra after his debut as a soloist under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle in 2014. He frequently tours as a chamber musician with various members of the orchestra. Violins of Hope, Ben-Ari’s piece for strings was commissioned and performed by the Berliner Philharmoniker in 2015.
Since 2010, Ohad Ben-Ari resides with his family in Berlin. Here, he continues his extensive work as a performer and a composer. As a pianist, he partners frequently with violinists Guy Braunstein and with mandolinist Avi Avital. He has also collaborated with Alisa Weilerstein, Sol Gabetta, Noah Bendix-Balgley, Emmanuel Pahud, David Orlowsky, Andreas Ottensamer, Ray Chen, Magdalena Kožená and Yuja Wang.
Ben-Ari also serves as the director of the ID Festival Berlin, which he founded with the support of the German government in 2014.
