Ohad Ben-Ari(Piano)

Born in Israel, pianist-composer and cultural entrepreneur Ohad Ben-Ari began his career as a soloist with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of 12. A year later, he was admitted to Tel Aviv University, where he studied piano and composition. As a pianist, he won top prizes at international competitions including the ARD and Arthur Rubinstein Competitions, leading to invitations for recitals, orchestral appearances, and chamber music collaborations worldwide.

In 1996, Ben-Ari moved to the United States to pursue a parallel path as a music producer. He went on to work with leading American pop artists, appear on major TV broadcasts, and record an extensive and eclectic repertoire spanning classical, jazz, and pop.
Since 2010, he has lived in Berlin with his family. From 2014 to 2024, he served as artistic director of the genre-crossing ID Festival, which he founded at Berlin’s Radialsystem with support from the German Bundestag. He currently leads Between Worlds, the ensemble founded by Avi Avital, which released its debut album on Deutsche Grammophon in summer 2025.
Ben-Ari has enjoyed a close association with the Berliner Philharmoniker since his 2014 debut under Sir Simon Rattle and regularly tours as a chamber musician with its members. In 2015, the orchestra commissioned and premiered his work Violins of Hope, marking the beginning of his growing reputation as a composer. Other notable works include Tips (Hamburg, 2013), his Marimba Concerto (Tokyo, 2014), Requiem for choir, organ, and large chamber ensemble (Hamburg, 2018), and APOPLEXY, composed for the 2021 International Violin Competition in Stuttgart. His song cycle Paterson, featuring mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kožena, premiered in 2025 with the Ingolstadt Chamber Orchestra and the Hamburg Symphony.
