He has attached a lot of attention by winning top prizes in these prestigious international competitions and is currently performing in a wide range of solo and chamber music activities based in Japan and Europe. With a repertoire ranging from baroque to contemporary music, Mukawa has a reputation for his performances that explore the stylistic beauty of each era and composer, and for his diverse tone quality. Apart from the modern piano, he is also researching on playing methods on the fortepiano.

In 2017, Mukawa performed all solo piano works by Maurice Ravel, one of the composers he has deepened his research on after studying in France, in 6 recitals at CHANEL Pygmalion Days. He released a recording of Ravel’s complete works for solo piano from NOVA Record in 2022. All 4 recitals held at Hamarikyu Asahi Hall to commemorate the release were sold out. Mukawa gives recitals every year, and in 2023, he held the 5 consecutive night recitals at Hamarikyu Asahi Hall, which were well received as in 2022.
He has also published his own arrangement of the piano solo version of Ravel’s “Ma Mère l’Oye” by Muse Press.

In 2024, Mukawa was awarded the 33rd Idemitsu Music Award.
