Aarón Zapico(Conductor)

Aarón Zapico is one of the most sought-after conductors of our time. Over the last twenty years he has made a significant contribution to the renewal of the Spanish musical heritage and to the renewal of this sector through the development of courageous and innovative programmes. He directs leading symphony orchestras and specialised ensembles at major festivals and concert halls, as well as his own ensemble Forma Antiqva.

Currently, his work focuses on conducting baroque operas and orchestral music, a reorientation of the Spanish 18th century, collaborations with great soloists, and also regular engagements with contemporary music and interdisciplinary projects that combine different artistic disciplines. His recordings as soloist or conductor have been nominated several times for the International Classical Music Awards and have received the highest recognition from European critics.
He is professor at various conservatories and a guest professor at universities in Spain, Panama, Costa Rica, Australia and Singapore. With a restless, committed and entrepreneurial spirit, he has founded associations and platforms to protect musicians' rights, social projects and solidarity with music as an integrating element and the first competition for early music in Spain. Despite his youth, his career has been associated with various awards and recognitions from the press, cultural foundations and festival associations.
Aarón Zapico is a jury member of the Princesa de Asturias Awards.
